Gelli prints can be so much fun to make but not all of them will be a stand alone work of art. Here's a fun way to use up all those Gelli prints that you may not be happy with as they are.
Here's a great example of a Gelli print that I wasn't real thrilled with. It seemed to lack that special something.
Put a coat of gesso over the whole thing then wait a few minutes and wipe it back a bit with a baby wipe. This will look good and more importantly prepare your surface for drawing and coloring. Dry completely then make simple shapes with a fine tip Sharpie. Dry then lay down some white into your shapes. I used watercolor crayons.
Keep coloring until you are happy with what you have. Then spray a coat of Workable fixative and let dry..
Now it's time for highlights and low lights. Darken one side of your image. I used a Faber castell Pitt artist pens and a Stabilo pencil on the right side of my image then smudged it with my finger. This helps your image pop off the page. After that dried I drew loosely over the image with a Uniball signo white gel pen . As a finishing touch I took a white Sharpie paint fine tip marker and pressed it on a scratch piece of paper till it was running out then threw down some speckles. Have fun!
