Recycled flip flop stamp tutorial

Picture
Stop! Don't throw away flip flops or garden kneelers. Recycle them into easy to make stamps.  I used regular craft paint for this example but you could use an ink pad as well. Clean up is easy. Simply run it under clean cool water and its ready to go again and again.

First find an object that you would like to make a stamp with. The object you choose should be rigid. Here I used an old Christmas tree ornament. This will not ruin or alter your object in any way. Heat your foam material. I used my heat gun because I happen to have one but I have also used a regular hair dryer on the hottest setting. You just want your foam to get nice and hot. Press your object into the foam with hard even pressure and count to twenty. If you don't like the way it turned out simply reheat the foam and start over. If your not getting a good impression that means your foam is not hot enough or you need to press  harder and or longer into the foam. Cut around your impression with a pair of heavy duty scissors or box cutter.

For this example I used a plaque right off the wall in my home to make the impression and an ink pad.

Look around and try different objects. You never know what your going to get. These stamps will last forever as long as you don't reheat them. Have fun exploring!!!!
